  1. Discussion Group Image - Upload an image to use in the Discussion Group's thumbnail display. You will be able to adjust the area of the image used.

  2. Name - Provide a title for the Discussion Group.
  3. Description - Enter a description for the Discussion Group that will be displayed on the left panel of the screen.
  4. Tags - Select tags that will suit the content of the Discussion Group to aid users in finding content that match their interests.
  5. Access: Public or Private. Public discussions can be seen by any user that has access to the Discussion area. A user must become a member to post. Private discussions can only be seen and posted in by users that were invited.

Discussion is used to allow members of the business to collaborate, brining users, Yellowfin Content, and external links together in one place to be viewed and discussed. Discussion is tightly integrated with Timeline so that users keep up to date with posts made in a Discussion by viewing updates in their Timeline feed.

Discussion Components

The Discussion area in Yellowfin consists of Discussion Groups, which are made up of four main components:

Description

Discussion Group

This displays the main feed of the discussion, with all threads and activity shown. From here users can post, reply, and view threads.

Discussion Thread

A thread is a chain of posts by users, discussing one point of interest or decision. Threads reside within Discussion Groups.

Content

Users are able to add Reports, Dashboard Tabs, and Storyboards to their posts. Any piece of content posted in a Discussion group is listed in the Content area.

People

These are users that are following and posting within the Discussion Group.

Options relating to the Discussion Group as a whole can be configured here.
